The Applewood Hockey Association was inaugurated in 1949. Few communities can boast a Pee Wee Hockey tradition as long or fruitful. While all sporting initiatives – at all levels of participation – aim to win every sports match up, this is only part of the objective of the association. Placed front and centre on the AHA website home page its real purpose is to:
- foster pride, tradition and excellence
- create a positive environment, mutual respect and teamwork
- build character through competition
- promote fun, fitness and family involvement
Generally, winning comes from embracing the above attitudes. In doing so, the Applewood Coyotes minor midget red team has experienced its fair share of wins. In both 2011 and 2013, they were victorious in the Faustina Tournament, winning the gold medal.
