Hi, Adrian Simunovic here from Paradise Decks and Landscape Design. When considering a backyard design it’s very important to match the deck design with lifestyle. This particular project illustrates that point perfectly.
Every aspect of this backyard design has been engineered in such a way as to be conducive to entertaining. We’ve got a large lounging area containing patio furniture that can accommodate up to 10 or 12 people, with a coffee table and outdoor fireplace in the centre. Also an outdoor kitchen including a bar and barbeque prep area, where people can enjoy a drink or eat a meal, and a beautiful dining area where we can accommodate another eight people.
One of the most striking features of this backyard design is the use of awnings for shade. This house has direct southern exposure. It would be very difficult to use this deck throughout the day without these retractable awnings.
Taken together, these backyard design features complement each other perfectly. The end result is a beautiful outdoor living space that allows for individual relaxation as well as being flexible enough for both small and larger groups. Features such as the outdoor kitchen, flexible patio furniture and the outdoor fireplace add to and extend the usability of this beautiful outdoor living space.
